What is confirmed

The date is Rockstar's own and has been reaffirmed since the August 2026 Extended Look gameplay reveal. Two delays came before it — the game was first targeted at 2025, then dated 26 May 2026 — so scepticism is reasonable, but nothing since suggests a third. The full timeline of every date change has the detail.

It launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. There is no PC version at launch and no announced PC release date.

No, you cannot play it early

There is no demo, no beta, no early access tier and no leaked playable build. Pre-loading opens on 12 November 2026, which puts the files on your console but does not unlock them ahead of time.

This matters because the gap between now and release is being filled with fakes. Researchers have documented fake “GTA 6 demo” downloads and a fake 113 GB ISO that turned out to be padding wrapped around malware — what those downloads actually contain goes through the reporting. The short version: anything offering GTA 6 today is not GTA 6.

What to do with the wait

Two things are worth doing before launch rather than after. Check what time GTA 6 unlocks in your region — it is probably not the time you assume if you live in a country spanning several timezones — and register on the GTA 6 crew finder, which lists players by platform, region and playstyle so you are not starting from nothing when an online mode arrives.
