GTA 6 price and editions: what $80 and $100 actually get you

Two editions, $79.99 and $99.99 in the US, and three things about this launch that are unusual enough to catch people out: there is no collector's edition, the physical box contains no disc, and the pre-order bonus has an expiry date.

The short answer

$79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition in the US, and those are the only two. There is no collector's edition, the physical box contains no disc, and the pre-order bonus expires on a date rather than running to launch.

The two editions

EditionUS priceWhat you get
Standard$79.99The complete base game
Ultimate$99.99The base game plus in-game vehicles, weapons, apparel and exclusive in-game shops

Rockstar's own description of the Ultimate Edition on the official GTA VI page is deliberately vague — "an exclusive collection of items threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story" — and it does not publish prices there at all. The $79.99 and $99.99 figures come from the store listings, and are collected in GTABase's editions guide alongside the item breakdown.

The practical read on the $20 difference: it buys cosmetic and convenience content for the single-player campaign. Since GTA 6 ships without any online mode, none of it is competitive advantage in a multiplayer economy — which is what Ultimate-tier content usually amounts to in this series. Whichever edition you buy, the people you play it with are free: the GTA 6 crew finder lists players by platform, region and playstyle.

The $80 base price is a step up

$79.99 sits above the $69.99 that became the current-generation standard, and well above the $59.99 GTA V launched at in 2013. It is not unprecedented — several 2025 and 2026 releases have tested the $79.99 tier — but it does mean the Ultimate Edition lands at a round $100 before tax, and that a two-copy household purchase is $160.

The pre-order bonus has a deadline

Pre-ordering gets the Vintage Vice City Pack, which Rockstar describes only as "unique benefits that flash back to when the neon burned brightest". It comes with both editions rather than being an Ultimate exclusive.

The part worth noting is that it is time-limited rather than pre-order-limited in the usual sense: GTABase reports the pack applies to purchases made before 20 November 2026 — the day after release. So buying on launch day still qualifies, and buying the following week does not.

Rockstar has not published a full contents list for the Vintage Vice City Pack. "Unique benefits" is the entire official description, and any itemised list of what is inside it is someone's guess.

There is no collector's edition, and no disc

Two absences here, and both break with how Rockstar has launched before.

No physical collector's edition

GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 both had elaborate physical special editions — steel cases, maps, art books, in-game currency. GTA 6 has announced nothing of the kind. There are two editions, both digital-content-only, and no third tier.

The physical edition contains a download code, not a disc

This is the one that has generated real backlash. Rockstar confirmed there will be no disc version at launch; the boxed product is a case containing a code that triggers the same download digital buyers get, as Push Square and others reported. Take-Two has not announced a disc SKU for later either.

The consequences are concrete rather than sentimental: a code-in-a-box cannot be resold once redeemed, cannot be lent to a friend, and does not work as a backup if your account or the storefront becomes unavailable years from now. It also means everyone downloads the full install regardless of how they bought it — worth planning for, given how large that download is expected to be.

Dates that matter

DateWhat happens
12 November 2026Pre-load opens for digital pre-orders
19 November 2026GTA 6 releases on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
20 November 2026Cut-off for the Vintage Vice City Pack bonus

Pre-loading needs the full install size free on the console before 12 November, not on launch day. That is the deadline people actually miss. Both dates open at midnight local time, region by region — what time that is where you are is not always the midnight you would assume.

There is no PC price

Because there is no PC version. Rockstar has announced no PC release and no date for one, so there is no PC SKU, no PC pre-order and no PC price at any storefront. If you find one, it is not selling you GTA 6.

Frequently asked questions

How much does GTA 6 cost?

In the US, $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. Regional prices vary. Rockstar does not publish prices on its own product page; these come from the console store listings.

What is the difference between the Standard and Ultimate editions?

The Ultimate Edition adds in-game vehicles, weapons, apparel and exclusive in-game shops for $20 more. Rockstar describes it as items threaded across Jason and Lucia's story. The Standard Edition is the complete base game.

Is there a GTA 6 collector's edition?

No. Rockstar has announced only two editions, Standard and Ultimate, both digital-content-only. Unlike GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, there is no physical collector's edition with merchandise.

Does the physical edition of GTA 6 include a disc?

What is the GTA 6 pre-order bonus?

The Vintage Vice City Pack, available with both the Standard and Ultimate editions. Rockstar has not published its contents. Reporting indicates it applies to purchases made before 20 November 2026.

When can I pre-load GTA 6?

Pre-loading opens on 12 November 2026, a week before the 19 November release, for digital pre-orders. You need the full install size free on your console by then.
